Friends of City Hall Start New Fundraising Effort
As part of their ongoing fundraising for Marine City’s Historic City Hall, the Friends of City Hall group has begun a new program in partnership with VG’s Grocery and its parent company, SpartanNash.
Similar to a previous program at VG’s, the new Direct Your Dollars program simply requires that VG’s sales receipts be collected and turned in. Every receipt holds value and when enough are collected, they can be turned in for cash for Friends of City Hall.
Receipts can be redeemed at increments of $75,000 or $150,000. Although that seems like a lot, if a household spends just an average of $50 per week in VG’s purchases, that household will generate $2,600 towards the goal in a year. Just 29 participants at this $50 rate will create more than the required $75,000 in that same one year period for an initial payout of $500. Friends of City Hall will be able to continue this program for as long as they want, resulting in a large return over time.
Friends of City Hall is offering participation to anyone who would like to help with the effort to preserve and restore the iconic Marine City landmark. It’s simple, easy and requires no special effort other than normal grocery shopping.
Collected receipts can be dropped off at Great Lakes Art & Antiques, 123 N. Belle River Ave. (next to Marine City Antique Mall), at 2Thirty5 shop (at Broadway and Main St.), at every Friends of City Hall meeting or event, mailed to PO Box 283, Marine City MI 48039, or given to a Friends of City Hall member. It is recommended to accumulate several months’ worth of receipts at a time before donation. Please leave the whole receipt intact.
Receipts will also be collected at Friends of City Hall’s 2017 Heritage Days event at Historic City Hall this September 15-17. To find other participating SpartanNash stores in Michigan, search for Direct Your Dollars online.
